SAFARI OVERVIEW

This 12 days Uganda and Rwanda Adventure Safari starts in Entebbe International Airport and ends in Kigali. This Adventure Safari takes you through the 5 (five) most liked and visited national parks in both Uganda and Rwanda that is Murchison falls, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Volcanoes national park. Meet eye to eye with the amazing gorillas in Uganda and Rwanda and chimpanzees of Uganda in their natural habitat, one of Africa’s major highlights. This close encounter with these amazing apes is simply breath-taking. Also get a close encounter with other diverse African wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and amazing culture and if you are a keen Birder, this is the place to be. DAY 1: ENTEBBE – KAMPALA (37 KMS)

Meet and greet at Entebbe International Airport by Crystal Guide who will warmly welcome you and facilitate seamless arrival formalities. Transfer to your hotel after which you will be briefed about your safari. Depending on the time of arrival you are advised to have your money changed this day. Overnight at Cassia Lodge. BB

DAY 2: KAMPALA – MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK (311 KMS)

Early morning you head north to Murchison Falls National park via the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will have the opportunity to trek the Rhinos. The sanctuary houses Uganda’s Rhino reintroduction project. There are 9 white rhinos and tracking is done on foot and takes about 1 and half hours. Drive to Masindi Town for lunch and later drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge(www.paraalodge.com) FB

DAY 3: MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

Early morning head for a game drive on the northern bank of the River Nile. Your guide will help you spot elephant, lion, cape buffalo, Roth child’s giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, bohor reed buck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard.

After lunch, go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just tens of meters from the ‘Devil’s Cauldron where you will see the River Nile said to be the 2nd longest river in the world crush through a narrow gorge and forming the magnificent Murchison falls!! Marvel at the schools of hippos, crocodiles and over the 17km stretch you may see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob. This is also the zone of many birds, species like goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. After taking shorts of the photogenic Murchison Falls return to your lodge. FB

DAY 4: MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK – KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK (441KMS)

After your morning breakfast drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside passing through traditional homesteads and farms. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon. The drive takes approximately 8 hours. Overnight at Crater Safari Lodge(www.crystallodgesuganda.com) FB

DAY 5: KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast we visit Kibale Forest National Park, where the greatest variety and highest

concentration of primates in East Africa is exceptionally represented. The most famous of its 13 species is the Chimpanzee known to be a delightful ape. It is also a home of species like the rare I’Hoest’s monkey, the black and white Colobus, Blue monkey, Grey cheeked mangabey, Red tailed monkey, Olive baboon among others. The walk takes 2-3 hours. After lunch go for Bigodi swamp walk where you may see a variety of bird species and other smaller mammals. Overnight at Crater Safari Lodge www.crystallodgesuganda.com .FB

DAY 6: KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK- QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONALPARK (157) KMS

After your morning breakfast, you will proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range. As you go through the game park you might spot some animals like the Elephant, Buffaloes, bushbucks, and Uganda Kob, Antelopes, Warthogs, among others. After lunch enjoy the unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. It is a 42kms channel that joins Lake Edward and Lake George. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos. It offers and excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. DAY 7: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Have an early morning Game drive where you may have an opportunity to see the lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephant, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck among others. Later transfer to Ishasha sector where you will go for another game drive in the evening in search of tree climbing lions. FB

DAY 8: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK – BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONALPARK (150KMS)

Have another morning game drive before proceeding to /Bwindi Impenetrable Forest passing through the Switzerland of Africa area known as the Kigezi Highlands with its terraced hillside and winding roads. With all the volcanic activity in this area the scenic beauty is breath-taking. Overnight at Gorilla Safari Lodge (www.crystallodgesuganda.com) FB.

Gorilla Safari Lodge offers its guests luxury accommodation in eleven spacious cottages, each providing the perfect setting to relax after an exciting day of trekking. The well-appointed cottages all have solar-powered lighting, en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water and flush toilets and individual verandahs offering excellent views of the unspoiled tropical rainforest. Two of the cottages have two rooms (both en-suite and featuring a cosy fireplace) with an inter-joining door making them the ideal choice for families or larger groups of people traveling together. The main lodge includes a restaurant, bar, lounge and campfire area overlooking the forest.

DAY 9: BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

After an early morning breakfast proceed to the starting point to embark on your Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in such of the awesome Gorillas – an unforgettable experience of your lifetime. Don’t forget to carry your rain gear, packed lunch and plenty of water. Once you find the gorillas, you will spend with them an hour before returning to your lodge. Time allowing; take a community walk around the lodge. Overnight at Gorilla Safari Lodge

DAY 10: BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK -RUHENGERI (89 KMS)

After breakfast, embark on your journey to Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills. On arrival in Kinigi, have lunch before proceeding to one of the lodges in Ruhengeri. Dinner and overnight Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Volcanoes Hotel Musanze.

DAY 11: RUHENGERI

After breakfast go for golden monkey trekking within Volcanoes National Park. During the trek, you may spot other primates plus viewing other inhabitants of the forest like birds and butterflies, return to the lodge for late lunch. If you don’t want to go gorilla trekking, take a hike to Dian Fossey’s Grave. This is a full day hike to a place where Dian Fossey premiered in the popular Gorillas in the Mist movie, spent most of her time looking after the injured mountain gorillas or you visit the local communities. After the trek, relax at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Volcanoes Hotel Musanze.

DAY 12: RUHENGERI – KIGALI – DEPARTURE ( 116 KMS)

After breakfast transfer to Kigali airport have a city tour before transferring to the airport to catch your your flight back home.
